Women wearing burqas in cold countries risk broken bones from vitamin D deficiency…A burqa is an enveloping outer garment worn by some Muslim women. In hot countries, enough sunlight gets through to give them sufficient vitamin D, but this may not happen in countries where there is limited sunshine, such as Ireland and Britain.

Vitamin D deficiency associated with greater rates of Cesarean sections
Researchers from Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center found that pregnant women who are vitamin D deficient are also at an increased risk for delivering a baby by Cesarean section as compared to pregnant women who are not vitamin D deficient. These findings currently appear online in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.
